When we fail important exams like the ARE and CSE, we put ourselves through so much worry, fear of failure, and stress…so much so that for some of us, the fear is justified when we fail and we do the “I told you so” inner story. None of this is helpful, but it can be hard to stop or ignore if we don’t have the right tools both before and during the exams.

Package Summary ...

Who: This is for folks struggling to pass the ARE or CSE.

 

What: I teach and guide you to relax your own mind in an empowering, natural and safe way and incorporate coaching and mentoring to address work and life issues that may be impacting your progress.

 

Where: We meet on Zoom for 4 weeks for 1.5 to 2-hour private and customized sessions. (Time slots offered in the evenings on Tuesday – Thursday, and on some Saturday mornings for those working rigid full-time office hours. I know how hard it can be to get away from work and deadlines. I’ve been there myself so I’ve set my hours up to help address this concern.)

 

When: You will want to start the program at least 4 weeks before your next exam to benefit from all of the techniques, habit shifts, and develop the self-hypnosis practice. I suggest scheduling your initial application call about 6-7 weeks before you intend to take your next exam to allow for the intake process and potential scheduling issues. You will need to have your exam scheduled by the time of your foundational First Session.

 

How We Start:  Everyone starts with a Foundation Session that includes education on how hypnosis works, why I say “all hypnosis is self-hypnosis,” what self-hypnosis is and what it isn’t, how it can help with test taking and learning skills, and co-creation of helpful affirmations and visualizations to help you start taking action right away. This foundation session always includes a 5-7 minute personalized self-hypnosis recording and a copy of my Self-Hypnosis PDF Guide.

 

How We Continue: The remaining three sessions are customized based on your personal goals, habits, past exam taking experiences, and mindset around your exam preparation and experience.

  • These three follow-up sessions may include any combination of the following: Coaching, mentoring, co-creating personalized affirmations and visualizations, tools to change study habits based on your personal learning quality and study skills, shifting self-thoughts to more helpful ones, tools to use during the exam to lower stress, and techniques designed to lower the negative impact of past failed exam taking experiences.

 

  • This program includes daily homework designed to help you accelerate your ability to lower your anxiousness, help you feel productive when you study, and successful towards passing your exams. Homework helps you develop the skill and learn to relax in a way that leverages a few minutes of your time to help you feel more resourceful throughout the day. Session homework may include 2-3 recordings to help you stay focused on your goal and develop the ability to lower anxiousness during your exam.

This is a fair question. If you truly want to pass your exams, and you are ready to get licensed and move onto the next thing in life, you are more likely to benefit from this offer. If you struggle against the idea of these exams or the “bureaucracy” of the profession, you might want to look at how these views are limiting your success in architecture.

This is why I offer the first foundational session as a stand-alone deposit.

You will learn how the mind works from a hypnosis perspective, how to take yourself into the natural hypnotic-state of mind, and have a 5-7 minute personalized recording to listen to that will help you relax and stay focused on what you need to succeed. You will also receive a copy of my Self-Hypnosis How-To PDF Guide.

I know this might be an issue for folks. Asking for this type of help can be hard. Are you worried your coworkers will think this is woo? I hear you. There are a few myths and misconceptions floating around from movies and stage shows where a hypnotist “makes” someone do something we think is crazy. I understand that all those movies might keep folks from learning this fun and relaxing tool. But there is actually a lot of science behind this technique. You can learn more about that here.

 

 

Why would anyone want to cluck like a chicken on stage in front of hundreds of people? Because they want to have fun. They want their friends to have fun. They want to trust the hypnotist to help them have fun and the hypnotist tells them it’s okay to have fun and do funny things. They also want to relax. When we do funny things, we feel relaxed.

The truth is, we can’t be made to do what we don’t want to do without force, entrenchment, and coercion. Fundamentally, the folks who cluck like a chicken at the county fair want to cluck like a chicken because it feels good to relax, laugh and be silly without any ill side-effects.

It is true that hypnosis is the main modality I use to help my clients successfully pass their exams, but I’m also a California licensed architect so I understand exactly what you are going through. So really you are signing up for mentoring and coaching from an architect with almost 30 years in the profession who will help you learn how to deeply relax your mind so you can be more creative and learn to help yourself pass these exams.

 

When you pass that exam you have been struggling to pass, you won’t worry about what other people think, you’ll be too happy celebrating. 

There is that potential because there are a lot of factors at play. We only meet once a week for 90 to 120 minutes. There is a lot of time between our calls and I can’t control what you do for all that time.

You have to want to pass these exams.

Also, passing a license exam includes a lot more than mindset shifts. Things like good quality sleep, nourishment, and other lifestyle changes that can be made to optimize studying (all things we can work on together, if needed). And this is all based on the assumption you are studying the right material for the exam.

The upside is, you won’t have wasted your time too much because you will benefit from the relaxation, the one-on-one time with someone who listens to you and helps coach you through lifestyle and mindset issues that may be getting in the way of your success.
